YOSHIOKA Sachio

"I have never cared for synthetically produced colors. I find them flat. The eye loses interest. The plant colors we produce have depth and glow from within. They change according to one’s perspective and the way light falls on them. With plant-dyed fabrics, it often happens to me that my eye is captivated by the color, it feels the color and penetrates it as if it had the sense of touch.

We are working, so to speak, against the tide of forgetting and color blindness that has come with the synthetic dyes.

For me the color itself is already enough artistic challenge. When we dye patterns for our workshop we use simple and clear ones that develop out of the dyeing process itself without back-breaking effort."
